Stasera in Tv. It would be medievel if the story didn't take place in the here and now. This is one of those films where no one has any shade of grey, no pun intended.
Here, you're either a villain or a victim. There's a semi-intriguing commentary about Turkish men involving women and soccer, but other than that, the film feels like a dirge.
It even warns you that the girls will never be together again. If you find that entertaining, rent it. I expected more but was disappointed.
Girls get beaten for playing with boys on the beach. Girls can't go watch futbol because men are there. Girls don't bleed on their wedding night so they are shamed and taken to the hospital to verify her hymen.
If this is an accurate reflection of culture in modern day turkey its horrible. Depressing garbage. Guess it at least made me feel a little better that I don't live in some backward ass place.
A powerful tale. The characters are believable and the story is compelling. This would be a good film to watch with young women and talk about the ways the the world is different for folks in other places.
The only thing I didn't like about the production is that when there are several people speaking, the subtitles are tough to read and figure out who is speaking.
Some people are complaining about how this movie might make someone prejudiced against modern-day Turkish culture, but the movie portrays issues girls and women in different parts of the world face, including western nations.
There are many positive things about the movie, but my favorite one was the bond and loyalty between the sisters. Photography, acting and development of the story were are seamless and skillful, as is the musical score, remarkable for a debut film.

Incredibly mature for a debut film! I have watched this film twice now and the second viewing left me with no hesitation in labelling it as a masterpiece.
This film has so much heart that it eclipses any minor issues I may have with the story. The five sisters have a bond and affection for each other that is beautiful to behold.
