The story is simple enough--a struggling theatrical producer launches a talent show to increase business for the theater, and his receptionist accidentally puts a few too many zeros on the grand prize amount, which attracts everyone from miles around to compete.

I can only think of one scene that could be considered inappropriate for kids, when these three girls are singing the opening lines to "Baby Got Back" they repeat "oh my gosh, look at her butt".

As long as you don't think your kids won't latch on to that and sing it at the most inopportune time, the movie is otherwise completely safe for kids of all ages.

No cursing, no violence, and no sexual innuendo, real or implied. Perhaps the best result of all is that both my boys are now much more interested in music.

They're interested in playing with my electronic keyboard, and I hear them actually trying to sing in the car now. Even though my wife and I have exposed them to music since before they were born, they didn't take much interest in singing or playing music until they watched this movie.

I knew I wanted to see Sing from the first advert - as a lover of singing and animated cartoons, this was a no brainer, and one I felt would be enjoyed by family, especially my singing loving 5 year old grandson who hasn't seen it yet!!

I couldn't wait to see it and was thrilled to see that the pack included a download code so promptly installed it on my tablet and spent a lazy afternoon in the garden with a cold drink watching the movie!

Yes it is a cartoon aimed at children so don't expect intricate plot twists, but the characters are cute, the songs are familiar and the film has a great feel good factor with enough detail to the animation to want to see it again just to take it all in!

The setting is Calatonia, a city that looks like a rather clean and pleasant LA, that is populated by anthropomorphic animals of all kinds and from all habitats, living and associating together in a perfectly human manner.

Buster Moon, an eternally optimistic but fairly unsuccessful koala, owns a decrepit theatre. He comes up with a plan to repair his theatre, his finances and his career as an impresario, involving staging a singing competition for all comers.

It would be possible for this to become merely a pleasant sing-song, or to be extremely cheesy. This is neither. There is actually a very good plot, and excellent characterisation to go with the enjoyable, foot-tapping musical score.
