It was quite enjoyable. Was it perfect? It's no "Conjuring 2". Taissa Farmiga has a lot of growing up as an actress to do, sure. But, it was FAR from 'terrible'.

It certainly wasn't 'disappointing'. All my fears about it were without merit. I don't know what the reason s were for the smear campaign, but it certainly got one, and it certainly affected its performance, given how even large fans like myself didn't go to the theater to see it.

That said, the story is a good one, and the tie-ins to the Conjuring franchise are done with grace and dignity. Some of the CGI isn't that great, sure.

Someone needs to come clean on why this movie got treated so poorly, even before its release when no one even knew what was going to be in it.

It affected a global market and probably cost the director future work to some degree. If you're a fan of "nunsploitation", "The Conjuring Universe", possession films, or just good old occult horror in general, then ignore all the negativity and see this movie.

It is a labor of love that deserves better than what it got. Left wanting. Loved The Conjuring. It had everything this movie lacked: good writing, stellar acting, and zero predictability.

I was super excited to see The Nun, and as an absolute fan of supernatural horror, those especially with demonic possession and Catholicism, I had such high hopes.

This film lacked the necessary fleshed out story line, was far too heavy on the contrived cheap thrills, and left much to be desired. Taissa is great, and I love her in AHS, but in this, her ability to breathe any sort of life into this drivel was cut off at the knees.

Bummer, really wanted to like this. Gave it two stars becuase it's not the actors fault the script blew, and also, some of the scenery as well as the abbey looked decent.

Other reviews are all over the place with this movie. Go into it with an expectation of just being entertained and you will be. Smarter than you might think and some real chilling parts!

Most movies of this genre are contrived and silly, this one is not. I thought this was a great movie. The story was interesting, and it had plenty of scary moments.

I didn't watch the previews, so those who say they saw all of the scary parts in the preview and it ruined it for them- didn't apply to me.

I also really like the actress that plays the nun she's on American Horror Story so when I saw she was in it I assumed it would be good :.

Of all the Conjuring and Annabella movies this doesn't even come close to comparing. I was very disappointed. Poor story development and characters.

I wish I had read the reviews before paying to watch this!!! Whereas The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2 rely on a great story to build suspense with spookie pays offs to keep you entertained, this film uses loud noises and over the top monsters for lack of a better term and is very hard to follow.

I mean there is supposed to be a path through all of these movies and how they mesh with each other invariant ways and means but the red herrings are still being passed along and the questions still remain unanswered.

Didn't she say that she stayed at that convent? Audio quality was always good. Music appeared full and rich, while effects demonstrated nice clarity and accuracy.

Low-end appeared deep and rich. Speech was natural and distinctive throughout the film. The mix used the speakers well and created a fine sense of the material.

This disc looked better defined than its BD counterpart, with richer blacks and colors. Nothing here blew away the Blu-ray, but it still offered the superior presentation.

Seven Deleted Scenes span a total of 12 minutes, 18 seconds. These mix some character beats and a few story elements. None of them seem crucial, but they may have added a bit of depth to the film.

No trailer for Nun appears here. Essentially a monster movie wrapped up in religious garb, The Nun lacks much impact. A mix of creepy atmosphere and jump scares, the film fails to engage.

The 4K UHD brings very good picture and audio as well as a few bonus features.
